Gigantic braided play installations

Fantasy and fun, that's what it's all about. From a 40-metre long braided play snake that invites you to explore, to cheerful nets to dream and rest, play and jump in. All unique and handmade. Braiding is central to the museum this summer!

Pop-up expo wickerwork

In the Teutenhuis you can immerse yourself in wickerwork from the past and present. From a zinc net that protects our oceans to artisanally woven baskets. Want to get started yourself? Learn the basics of basket weaving with the digital tool that we developed in collaboration with UAntwerp.

Bouwschuur

Construction shed

In the Bouwschuur, no less than 75,000 blocks are waiting for your creative hands. Dare to take on crazy challenges in this bustling construction site or let your imagination run wild. For children and adults. Who can build the highest tower?

Verkleedkoffer

Costume barn

Wrap yourself literally in the past. Clogs on, yoke over shoulders, ... Come outside again and follow lessons in the school in your new outfit, help the farmer on his farm or listen to the sermon of the pastor. Mom, dad, grandpa or grandma, don't forget to take pictures!

Living History actrice - boerin - met een kip in de handen

Living History

In the museum village of Haspengouw, a new character makes her entrance: the midwife. After all, one of the villagers turns out to be pregnant without being married. A disgrace in the Catholic village! The advice that was given to expectant mothers in 1900 and whether or not to give birth with a midwife, keeps the villagers in suspense.

Workshops

During the summer holidays, edible wickerwork is on the studio menu, to make and eat yourself! You can also hammer together a wooden windmill or a bird feeder, or you can craft a special bee hotel yourself. The choice is yours!
