Excursions for schools and youth groups

School excursions 2023

A school trip to Bokrijk means discovering, learning and having fun together. A museum full of experiences, where both toddlers and primary school pupils and even all grades of secondary school indulge in the world of 'the past'. We don't talk about the past, we let your pupils experience the differences and similarities between the past and today. And we even look ahead to what the future will bring.

We immerse them in craftsmanship during our interactive workshop tours: the children get creative with leather or wood, make an artisan bread or turn their own pot. The self-made result goes home with them.

The immersion programmes guided by our Living History actors, in the little school and on the farm, are also available again. In 'Beastly Bokrijk', pupils get to know our historic animal breeds up close. Or awaken the class spirit with the Bokrijk Rally: a healthy class competition with special challenges, all linked to life in the past.

If you prefer to guide your class yourself, we have the brand new 'Mission 1900' for 5th and 6th grade. With a handheld instrument and on their own, your pupils discover in small groups how people lived in 1900, starting from today's world.

You can also book a 30-minute ride with covered wagon and farm horse exclusively for your class.

Whatever you choose, it is sure to be a fun, relaxed and educational day!

We also have an unforgettable day in store for teenagers. Youngsters learn how to use the past to build the future through activities and programmes tailored to their class group, age and interests in our school brochure. For example, we immerse them in The sixties, where they discover how teenagers in the 60s went to bars, sang along with the Beatles in their bedroom or used surprising electronic gadgets.

On our workshop routes, youngsters learn about craftsmanship first-hand: they spin a pot themselves, pimp a unique sports or shopping bag, or get to work with leather or wood. During the Bokrijkrally, the class feeling grows: this class competition catapults your pupils back in time 100 years via challenging assignments. You can even choose to discover Bokrijk while gaming with the Bruegelgame.

Whatever you choose, it is sure to be a fun, relaxed and educational day!
