If you enjoy hiking or walking, domain Bokrijk’s 550 hectares of open space are perfect. There are five routes to choose from in ‘De Wijers’ lake area, with distances between 1.5 and 9.5 km. Don’t forget to pass by the Arboretum, where you can admire numerous species of trees, unique plants and an extensive collection of holly and bamboo.
Bokrijk is criss-crossed by a number of trails since many local hiking trails run through the domain, making the area ideal for exploration in conjunction with other natural areas in the province. One route that guides you to Bokrijk passes through the beautiful meadows of Kiewit, where stunning views are guaranteed! If you feel like giving your legs a really good stretch, Bokrijk also happens to be part of De Wijers long-distance walk. This 76-km walk takes you past the beautiful lakes and reed beds of Limburg’s most important waterscape. Other options are the three one-day walks, each around 20 km, which take you through different parts of De Wijers. In Bokrijk, hikes begin at Car park 1 - Kasteel next to Het Koetshuis brasserie, where there is also an information board indicating the various routes.
